Many Looking for a Solution to Increasing Real Estate Taxes

Despite the housing-bust and declining home values, many can expect to see property taxes increasing in 2010.  Local governments are turning to property taxes to help with fiscal deficits.  Homeowners in some states are fighting for caps on property tax increases, but even some of those in states with such laws are seeing higher taxes.

Home Price Index Registers Second Straight Month to Month Decline After Summer Gains

National home prices, including distressed sales, declined by -7.8 percent in October 2009 compared to October 2008, according to First American CoreLogic and its LoanPerformance Home Price Index (HPI). This was an improvement over September’s year-over-year price decline of -9.5 percent.* On a month-over-month basis, however, national home prices declined by -0.7 percent in October 2009 compared to September 2009.
