Redwood County, Minnesota Begins e-Recording
press release

The Redwood County Recorder’s office has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of all documents through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, offering customers a faster and more efficient recording method.

With this technology available at the county, customers including banks, title companies, and attorneys can scan or upload documents and submit them to the recorder’s office online through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service. In minutes, the documents are received, reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter.

HomeTown Bank, a local submitter in Olivia, was the first to electronically record a document in Redwood County.

“The biggest benefit to HomeTown Bank is it makes recording documents a time saver and more efficient for us,” said Lisa Meints, a central loan processor at HomeTown Bank. “We can get documents recorded the same day without having someone leave the office and go to the recorder’s office. Since there are many other counties using Simplifile, we don’t have to wait for the mail time to and from the recorder’s office on recorded items. I would say going forward the majority of all our documents will be done by e-recording.”

Redwood County joins 66 other e-recording counties in Minnesota in addition to more than 1,180 recording jurisdictions e-recording with Simplifile nationwide.
“Redwood County will be accepting all documents for e-recording,” said Redwood County Recorder Joyce Anderson. “The process has been made easy with the help of Simplifile. Any questions we have had for Simplifile in this process has been addressed quickly and efficiently.”

Increased document security and fewer payment errors are also some of the benefits of e-recording, as recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
