Electronic recording (e-recording) in the Town of Salem is now available through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, enabling faster recording of land documents and records.
“The Town of Salem is pleased to announce we now accept recordings electronically,” said Salem Town Clerk Linda Flugrad. “We chose to start e-recording because it’s been proven to work well around the country. It is beneficial to recorders, residents, and clerks alike.”
Using Simplifile’s online recording service, customers including title companies, banks, attorneys, and lien filers can scan or upload and electronically submit documents to the clerk’s office for recording in minutes.
Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile.
“E-recording expedites the process of recording documents and allows us to use our time and money more efficiently not having to mail the original documents back,” Flugrad added. “It also alleviates payment errors, which saves our customers valuable time. Our goal is to have more recorders utilizing this technology.”
The Town of Salem joins 28 other recording jurisdictions in Connecticut that offer Simplifile’s e-recording service. Nationwide, more than 1,200 counties and recording jurisdictions e-record with Simplifile.
