Sampson County has adopted electronic recording (e-recording) of land records with Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording provider, enabling faster, more convenient recording.

"We wanted to be on board with the latest technology that was being offered for our customers," said Sampson County Register of Deeds Eleanor Bradshaw. "We had attorneys and other companies ask when we were going to start, so it seemed the perfect time to make our change."

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers including title companies, banks, and attorneys will be able to electronically submit documents to the register of deeds’ office and have them recorded in minutes.

"It is quicker for the customer and more efficient for us," Bradshaw added. "We love the ease of recording a transaction."

Customers will also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted to the county, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.

According to Bradshaw, Sampson County hopes to increase their number of e-recording customers and to encourage more local banks and attorneys to use this service.

Sampson County joins 50 other Simplifile e-recording counties in North Carolina and more than 1,240 counties that also e-record with Simplifile nationwide.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
