Crawford County, Pennsylvania Begins eRecording
press release

Crawford County has implemented electronic recording (e-recording) of documents through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, giving customers a cost-effective, online recording option.

"We decided to start e-recording because we wanted to keep up with the times and keep moving the office forward," said Crawford County Recorder of Deeds and Register of Wills Deborah Curry. "At my last conference I received a lot of positive feedback about e-recording, so I felt that it was time to move forward and that we were ready."

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the recorder’s office and have them recorded, stamped, and returned electronically in minutes.

"With e-recording, we never have to deal with a bad check coming through. Ultimately, it will be more efficient as far as returning recorded documents with a much faster turnaround time," Curry said.

Instead of having to send documents by mail or drive to the county, customers now benefit from a much faster, more convenient recording option online that saves them time and money.

According to Curry, her office is accepting all land records including deeds and mortgages for e-recording through Simplifile.

Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents.

With the addition of Crawford County, there are now 33 counties in Pennsylvania that have adopted e-recording with Simplifile. Nationwide, more than 1,275 counties also e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
