Two Connecticut Towns Begin eRecording
press release

Connecticut has expanded e-recording in the towns of Avon and Rocky Hill, allowing customers to submit electronic documents to the clerks’ offices online through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service.

"The Town of Avon decided to start e-recording to be up to date technology-wise with land record recordings," said Avon Town Clerk Ann L. Dearstyne. "We will be accepting all land records with the exception of maps and deeds conveying property."

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, can quickly scan or upload and submit documents for recording directly to the town clerk. In minutes, the documents are reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned electronically back to the submitter.

"As you can imagine, having the convenience of sending documents for recording online saves customers time and money," said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. "Instead of having to wait several days or weeks for documents to be delivered by mail, the turnaround time is often reduced to minutes."

Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents. If an electronic document is rejected for any reason, customers are notified immediately through Simplifile, giving them the ability to quickly correct and resubmit the document.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, helping to reduce payment errors.

With the addition of e-recording in the towns of Avon and Rocky Hill, there are now 37 recording jurisdictions in Connecticut that have implemented e-recording.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
