Madison County is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing document submitters with a faster, more cost-effective recording method online.

Using Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, customers ranging from title companies to banks, attorneys, and lien filers, have the ability to scan or upload and submit documents directly to the county where they are reviewed, stamped, recorded, and returned electronically in minutes.

"Recording documents by mail or courier service can take up to several days or weeks, but with e-recording, a document can be recorded the same day, if not in minutes," said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. "It’s not only more convenient and cost-effective for customers but also for the county, as they, too, are able to cut down on paper costs and mailing expenses."

Customers also have the ability to track and view the status of their documents that have been submitted through Simplifile, making it easier and more cost effective to correct and resubmit any rejected documents. If an electronic document is rejected for any reason, customers are notified immediately through Simplifile, giving them the ability to quickly correct and resubmit the document back to the county.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, helping to reduce payment errors.

Madison County is the 65th county in Missouri to make Simplifile’s e-recording service available to customers, joining more than 1,295 counties nationwide that also e-record with Simplifile.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
