I am going back to law school in a couple of weeks for my LL.M. and one of my classes this semester will be insurance law. I was reading some general information about the history of insurance last night and it was very interesting.  Particularly interesting was the explanation about why we call the insurers "underwriters."  Anyone care to guess?
