I have a feeling my response is going to cause some controversy...

First, let me assure you that I've "been there/done that" for YEARS with some clients.  I have had to refuse to type in work because I am a vendor manager and I'd have to type in everyone's work.  If the volume were there, I'd consider hiring a typist for $10/hr or something -- a fee that you and I here in the (more economically depressed) midwest could find.

That would be one route.  If you hire out or do it yourself, POST A LIABILITY DISCLAIMER with every order.  Easy to just cut and paste so you don't have to retype it every stinkin' time.

But here is the controversial idea:  Have India type it for you.  For literally PENNIES there are good, reliable companies in India who will basically do anything for a buck and do it for you OVER NIGHT because they're 16 hours ahead of us.  The whole India thing -- with too many companies shipping the actual abstracting over there -- causes much beating of chests and rending of garments.  If you can't beat them, join them!  They can't search for you, but they CAN type for you!  I read an excellent book (I think it's called The Four Hour Work Week) where the young man quickly discovered that having a personal secretary that he was paying pennies for, freed up his life considerably.  He listed several established, reliable, jack-of-all-trades firms in India.  Please think about it.  Try it!  See if it works.  Let the overseas company have an order or two as a test run.
