I would search middle name, middle initial and all of their diminutives. I don't trust computerized indexes having found too many human errors (like a missed trust deed for last name Thomas accidentally spelled Yhomas in the computerized index).  There is no opportunity to miss docs if you hit every single name and all of the permutations you can think of.
