Leigh, the counties that I've been to are the same way, you can only search by name not by address or description. They are in the index just like Leigh said, by date, then name, bk&pg, and type of doc, then sometimes a brief description. But you do not have the option to search by description or address.  So, yes we also run all variations of a name, ie. Richard, Rick, Dick, initial R etc. but no we cant search lot 4, block B, Grandview Subdivision.  Although I did not miss the mortgage because I happened to look at the entry under his middle name, just by the way these computer indexes are set up, if you did not search by middle name you would not have found this mortgage.  And lots of counties here stopped the paper indexes years ago.
