[-] This has been bugging me . . . - Michaela Urban/OH (21 replies)

Ok, I didn't want to go here but this has been bugging me for the last month. I will start out saying I am NOT naming names here - that is not the point - I know who these people are. But this situation really ticked me off and I have to say something. I had a large client who I did lots of work for for a long time. A really good client who one day quit sending orders. So about two months ago they called me up - begging and apologizing - to have me do their work again. They were not happy with who they were using and even though I was more expensive they wanted me back - badly. All I wanted to know was how this happened to begin with.
So begins my story that basically I was undercut. But it gets even better. I was undercut by a company in Southern Ohio (it would take three+ hours alone to drive to my counties) so they sub-contracted out this work to another company here in Northern Ohio (one of my many competition). I found out immediately who both these parties are and that is where I got really irritated. Both companies are listed here on SOT and one is a NALTEA member (I am not saying who so don't even ask). My conclusion is that if this company in Southern Ohio undercut me, obviously the Northern Ohio company (who they sub-contracted out to) was charging even LESS to get these searches. I think that is just terrible - are there NO ethics in this business????
I guess not these days - you don't feel bad cutting my throat just to get some work for your business. These people didn't care that I worked really hard for this client and when I quit getting work it affected things in my company. It really makes me MAD and I would love to say more, but I don't want to start things - at least I have the work back which is the ultimate compliment to me.
My moral here is that just because someone is a member of SOT or NALTEA doesn't mean they won't screw you and your business over just to make a buck. I know this first hand and I didn't want to be the one to say it, but it is true. So what I want to know is how do we eliminate these type of practices when as long as you have money you can be a member? It is not moral to parade around as if you are doing right when you are doing wrong behind other members backs. I don't know if these people know (or care) who they screwed over, but if you are reading this you are just like the dirt on the bottom of my shoes . . .
