Well we were foolish enough to think that RealMetrix would treat us differently. We had been in touch with them for some time about working with them, then several months ago they started sending us work. By that point we had seen the posts on SOT about how they were bad payers. We talked to Elaine Morgan, Director of Strategic Sourcing and Compliance, elaine.morgan@realmetrix.net, and she assured us it would be different for us. I guess we were naïve, but we believed her. In fact, one of the things she said was, “You are correct. We are experiencing some payment issues as you are aware of from SOT. That being said, we had a brief meeting on Friday and we are in the process of trying to correct the issue. There was not a definite answer yet as to when payments will be sent, but due to the volume you receive and could possibly receive in the future, your company is listed as a priority. It is very important to us to get caught up and continue to pay our vendors in a timely manner. “
Now it has been months, they owe us over $5,000, and we have not been paid one thin dime. Nor have we even been contacted to make a payment arrangement.
Elaine does always write back to our emails. She says things like, “I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I was out of the office and then attempting to obtain information for you. At this time, I have not been provided with any information. However, there is a meeting scheduled with the owner to discuss further. I will advise as soon as I know anything.” So she is always polite, and gives the impression that things are moving forward, but she never makes any commitments, and we are never paid. It comes across as just a PR function, keeping people calm for as long as she can.
Eventually she said, “Regarding payment issues, Please contact Melissa at 1-888-407-2913 opt 2 or melissa.rivera@realmetrix.net. I am no longer fielding the payment questions. She can hopefully help you from here! I’m still here if you need anything though!” We contacted Melissa Rivera and others several times, with ZERO response back.
What it comes across as is they are paying their vendors on such a long lag that they are basically getting jobs done for free up front, and keeping all the profit for a certain portion of time. I don’t know if it’s bad management, or something else, but it adds up to the same thing—it’s has been damn hard to get our money from them, if we ever get it at all. And of course, we have already had to pay our vendors, and our copy costs. I didn’t realize we were in the business of loaning money to RealMetrix, but I guess we are.
We have learned our lesson—DON’T DO WORK FOR REALMETRIX. If every abstractor just said no until they were caught-up on their payments, they would have to change their payment system.
Below is their corporate charter info in case anyone needs it for escalation purposes. According to their corporate charter, Anthony Gioia is the registered agent, and he is also listed as the CEO on their website.
You can also leave a review for them on their FaceBook page, which my associate did: https://www.facebook.com/RealMetrix-344893098868647/timeline
We look forward to updating this post once they have paid us.
Naive No Longer,
John
