Dear Title Company,
I , like you, work at my job to make a profit. I work extremely long hours, without breaks, without stopping for lunch or dinner (I eat at my desk while working) and into the night, do you? I don't take time off for appointments during the week, I schedule them on Saturday's so I can be available for you, do you? Monday through Friday I wake up, start working nonstop till its time to go to bed, do you? I do this because you have forced me to lower my fee to a point where I had to let my two employees go, I cant even afford a part timer to help with accounts receivable, accounts payable, your 20 email questions a day, answer the phones, type searches, or handle your requests for a new fee sheet, or a new abstractor agreement. I spend 95% of my day doing searches and 5% of my time to do all those other duties, which due to time constraints never get done in a timely manner.
So when you tell me you want me to start typing your searches now because it's going to save me time, well I just have to laugh. I know it will save you time and money. You will be laying off your employees who were typing them in your office, (saving money) and have a fully typed report in your hands (saving time). I, on the other hand, now have to find additional time to type your searches. You hired people to type searches for you, what makes you think I can do my job and their job too? The fee you pay doesn't allow me to hire a typist. So, yes, do tell me how typing your searches is going to save me time and money?!?!
Maybe I should give up sleeping, or maybe I should just give up period? Because as much as I really enjoy researching titles, you've pushed me to my limit. My new job is going to be getting the word out to borrowers that their personal information is being sent overseas to save the title companies money, and to let them know they have every right to choose a title company that only uses local abstractors.
Sincerely,
Frustrated Abstractor
