I was contacted by Abstrax, LLC, here's their introductory email which was great...
My name is ********** and I am a Vendor Relations Representative at Abstrax, LLC. I am reaching out to you in regards to the new direction our business model is going. Our goal is to be able to send 100% of our volume out to local abstractors in the State of North Carolina; Current Owners, Two Owners, Full Searches, Doc Retrievals, etc., whether it be done online, or still at the county. To start, we are looking to send our Current Owner work at a flat fee which would require a search back to the most recent full value transfer and pertinent pages of any open liens and judgments; plat maps will not be required. I am sure you will see a certain ease when completing these orders as the vast majority will be for refinance transactions and there are extensive credit reports are ran prior to processing the files. With that being said we found the content of these orders to be cut and dry, usually one deed one mortgage. We would love to continue to filter you work within your county coverage and would like to negotiate a flat rate that will benefit both parties. What are your thoughts?
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Best,
***********
I then replied with my current fees and her response was:
Thank you so much for your prompt response, we are currently looking for a flat fee of $30 in all counties. We do offer ACH payments to our vendors if that is something you are interested in as well. Please let me know if this is something you would be able to work with.
My exact response was 'LOL. Get Real'
No thank you and in the past they've always been late payers.
