I received a notice from the City of Bedford, Ohio, that a fellow Source of Title user sent in regarding an increase in the City's "Unrecorded Special Assessment Verification Fee."

 

NOTICE

Effective January 1, 2018, the fee for researching the existence of assessments increases from $10 per search to $40 per search. 

 

Section 1901.03 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Bedford has been amended as follows:

 

1901.03  UNRECORDED & RECORDED SPECIAL ASSESSMENT VERIFICATION FEE

A fee of Forty Dollars ($40.00) will be imposed on all individuals, entities, etc. requesting that the City research the existence of assessments on properties located in the City of Bedford.

 

This seems kind of steep to me.  What do you think?
