eRecording Begins in Two Minnesota Counties
press release

Electronic recording (e-recording) of land documents in Minnesota’s Otter Tail and Norman counties is now available through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing document submitters with a faster, more cost-effective recording method online.

With e-recording available, recording customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys will be able to electronically scan, upload, submit and track the status of documents sent to the county for recording via the Internet. Once the recorder’s office receives the documents online, they can then quickly record and return them back to the submitter through Simplifile in minutes.

"AgCountry has used Simplifile for over a year, and our Ada office is pleased to have Simplifile available in Norman County," said Mick Thompson, Loan Officer and Branch Manager in AgCountry’s Ada office. "It’s a fast and accurate way for us to file records with the county on behalf of our customers. Any time we can take advantage of technology to make things more efficient, we’re all for it."

AgCountry was the first customer to e-record documents in both Norman and Otter Tail counties.

"We’re excited to see the continued adoption of e-recording throughout Minnesota. Customers will no longer have to rely on the mail, which can take several days or weeks for documents to be submitted, recorded, and mailed back from a county," said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. "E-recording through Simplifile is so much easier and more efficient. It allows customers to track the status of their documents and quickly make corrections if necessary to any rejected documents."

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.

With the addition of Otter Tail and Norman counties, there are now 69 Minnesota counties e-recording with Simplifile, joining more than 1,200 counties e-recording with Simplifile nationwide.
