Whew . . . I hate to say that I feel relief that it is not just me having this happen to them!  Though please know you have my sympathies too!  I think its foul, considering workloads have gone down due to interest rates and any work these days is greatly appreciated. I tried to explain stuff to them too, and all it got me was fired. I could understand if I made mistakes, but I know what I am doing here.  I know how to do it.  I do not understand either why if indexes are the same both online, and in the county, WHY we have to go use THEIR computers.  I even told my local recorder what happened and she was shocked.  Her first reaction was "what is online is the SAME as in here!  And they don't trust you???"

I believe I have done their work for at least 15 years (but I can't remember for sure!), and sometimes I don't get much and other times I would get 30-50 orders.  I know someone said I should charge less if I work at home - but I highly disagree with that.  You are paying us to do a job, and how we do it does not matter.  You are paying for our experience, and our knowledge, and our work ethic.  Whether we drive there or not doesn't matter.  We are doing the same job.  You can't tell me to charge less . . . is the client I send it back to going to charge less???  Then the client that they send that to, will they charge less?  Will the person getting the information in the end - get charged less????  The answer straight across the board is a big resounding NO . . . so why are we abstractors constantly browbeaten down, and asked to charge LESS, when to start with we probably are not charging enough????  Why is our years of experience, and localized knowledge, DISCOUNTED by other people who don't do the job to begin with, and have little to no understanding what it takes to do a search???  Why would I discount my work when nobody else does???

Anyway, sorry to get on my soapbox here.  The bottom line is what they did is ignorant.  The fact they have no interest in feedback from the very people who do their work is pretty sus.  I also don't appreciate being told how and where to do my job by people who I INDEPENDENTLY work for.  They might send me work, but they are NOT my employers.  I am insured too - but you have no TRUST in how I do my work???  I pay my taxes, insurance, and everything else here.  But they want to micromanage my day, down to what computer I use, and where????  The stupidest part is I KNOW people who do ALL their work online in other counties, and NTC sends them work.  They chose to stay quiet to keep the work rolling in.  But when others try to speak up and be honest . . . we get kicked to the curb.  If we can't do work online, at home - then NOBODY in the business should be working for them. Period.  Stuff in online in the year of 2023.  Some of my offices are only available online, they don't want us in their offices.  But it is what it is.  Like I told them too, you want to treat me this way - its best we part ways.  I have other people who respect what I do, and my work ethic, and I am grateful every day for them!  Besides when one door closes, that leaves room for another to open!

Good luck, and I am very sorry you got treated this way too!
