Title Examiner I
Responsible for the examination titles ranging in complexity, to determine status of title or establish chain of title.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Abstract and examine deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, easements, judgments, liens, tax assessments, and other applicable instruments.
2. Verify vesting and encumbrances to title.
3. Prepare title reports
4. Review of files that may be too complicated to be completed by other departments.
5. Provide service to RedVision customers.
6. Aid other departments with their workload if time permits.
7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and levels of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
This position will cover areas in our Southeast Region.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-3 years prior title examination experience
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required:
• Ability to work in an accurate, detail-oriented and highly productive manner
• Working knowledge of legal documents affecting title to real property and methods by which they are recorded, liens, encumbrances and circumstances that affect title to real property
• Knowledge of local filing requirements, recording fees, and abstracting procedures
• Knowledge of surveys and plotting metes and bounds
• Familiarity with all procedures performed in title report production – including abstracts, examinations, document retrieval, surveys, plat maps, tax data, etc.
• PC proficiency in Title Software
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and tasks requiring detail, concentration, and accuracy
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work both independently and contribute in every aspect to a team environment
