The Meeker County Recorder’s office has implemented electronic recording (erecording) through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, offering customers a faster and more efficient way to record documents.
Instead of having to submit documents by mail or driving to the recorder’s office, customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys will have the ability to scan or upload documents and submit them online through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service.
“Our experience with Simplifile has been great. If we had any questions or trouble, Melanie from Simplifile was right there with us,” said Meeker County Recorder Elaine Lenhard, who will be retiring this week.
According to Lenhard, the county is currently accepting satisfactions and assignments.
“After we get comfortable with these document types, we will look into accepting other documents,” she said.
Meeker County joins 66 other e-recording counties in Minnesota in addition to more than 1,180 recording jurisdictions erecording with Simplifile nationwide.
“With e-recording, both the county and its customers will be able to cut down on paper, postage, envelopes and check-writing expenses as the once manual, paper recording process moves to a streamlined, electronic one,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “We’re thrilled to be working with the Meeker County Recorder and to see another Minnesota county on board with e-recording.”
Increased document security and fewer payment errors are also some of the benefits of e-recording, as recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
