Orange County, N.Y., is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing customers with a faster, more cost-effective online recording method.

E-recording is the method of submitting, receiving, and processing documents such as land records for recording online, which are otherwise submitted by mail, runner, or courier service.

Using Simplifile’s web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, and legal offices can electronically prepare or scan and upload documents such as land records and send them securely through Simplifile to Orange County.

"With e-recording, most counties are able to record the documents in under an hour, if not minutes," said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. "It’s significantly faster to e-record than to send documents back and forth through the mail. We’re excited for customers to have this option available in Orange County."

Orange County joins several other New York recording jurisdictions in offering Simplifile’s e-recording service to customers, in addition to more than 1,225 recording jurisdictions nationwide that also e-record with Simplifile.

Recording fees and payments can be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
