It links to a card that you want payments sent. I personally have my debit card attached so that I have access to cash.  It's a SECURE way of receiving immediate payment.  They can pay with their own credit/debit cards or PayPal credit, but it's deposited to your account. 

 You can create your invoices and so forth.  It's pretty handy.  When a group of us went on a trip to the beach together and rented a house, our friends put down the deposit and then sent us invoices via PayPal to pay them our shares.  That way cash didn't have to exchange hands, but they got their money.  I also used it when I sold tickets to a concert I couldn't attend.  I was able to sell to a stranger: I received payment and I emailed him the tickets.  The money was in my account within seconds.  Transaction completed in under 5 minutes.  No Western Unions, no meeting somewhere to exchange money for tickets, no waiting for something to come in the mail. 

And if for any reason you use PayPal to pay for anything and the other party does not deliver, PayPal interferes and protects the users.  It is really a great way to provide and receive payment for services/goods without the wait.  Really great for our industry for those that are not set up to receive credit card payments.  Really great for those that want payment upfront for searches on new clients.  Check it out.  ;)
