The entire system needs to be overhauled. We don't need politicians protecting the corporate and the wealthy campaign contributors in Congress.

We have already discussed the problems with the banking institutions above and as they have become part of the focus of the "Occupy Movement" to create a more level playing field.

There is also the matter of the pharmaceutical industry cutting back on production of life saving medications to drive up the prices to the public and hording the limited supplies to price gouge. There was an item on the news recently in which cancer victims were unable to obtain chemotherapy drugs. Another individual's medication had increased in price from $12 per vial to $1,000 per vial.

As usual the insurance industry is another area that needs to be more tightly monitored and regulated. We had an interesting situation recently in Connecticut. In one of the local towns about 40 homes were destroyed by the hurricane last month. The residents were required to carry both flood insurance and homeowner's insurance. They submitted their claims. The local news reported that the flood insurers took the position that it was wind damage not covered by flood insurance and that the homeowners insurers took the position that it was not wind damage but rather flood damage no covered by their homeowners policies. The residents had to apply to FEMA for help, and it only provided a portion of what they needed. Kind of reminds me of that movie "The Rainmaker".

The "Occupy Movement" could not have come at a better time.
