Auto-pay was one of the worst things to ever happen to this industry... and abstractors in particular. It gives clients the ability to unilaterally change abstractors' fees and they nearly always neglect to include additional charges for things such as copies or additional chains of title. They usually completely disregard the submitted invoices and getting those kinds of problems corrected is a nightmare. They always expect the abstractor to tell them exactly which orders were not paid in full, despite being sent a detailed invoice every month. When you try to go through it with them, they insist that "that order was paid." What can you say... "our invoice was for X dollars and you paid Y dollars.... YOU STILL OWE Z DOLLARS!"
They should call it what it really is... AUTO-DELAY!
