This could be a good idea. However, in some states, it may be illegal to threaten criminal prosecution in an attempt collection on a civil debt. Sometimes, it depends on exactly how the wording of the "threat" is presented by the creditor.
It might be worth running the idea by an attorney before firing off an email to the deadbeat company, so a $50 invoice doesn't turn into having the cops at your door, instead of theirs!
