I just wanted to say for those concerned about raising fees to go to outer counties, I don't think it should really be a problem. I have three counties that I don't charge extra to go to. One is where I live and the other two are 20 minutes away from me. The other three counties that I can cover (which range from 35 to 50 minutes away from me) I charge an extra $10 per item (search, filing, update, etc.) and I always tell my clients WHEN I will be there. Normally my clients have absolutely no issues with this. I'm just upfront about my fees and turnaround. Now occasionally I have someone say, can you have this done tomorrow?? Well, if I can arrange it I will be there - no promises. I'm not going to fret about gas prices at this point. I am making extra money to go to these outer counties. Two of them I took on in this last year (kind of as a courtesy to good clients) so I could make extra money when my other counties were very slow. Now I just make sure I eat before leaving and don't waste my money eating fast food. More in gas, less in fast food - LOL. I just don't want to be sitting at home wondering how I'm going to pay my bills. Also it helps to befriend people in these other counties, because you never know when you will need a copy or something simple and don't want to drive there.
