How can they "require" a deposit if they won't accept the deposit for what will potentially be your copy bill or copy needs? How dumb is this system anyway- I need the money up front, but won't accept it because you have not spent it yet? I sympathize with you on that Robert- just plain old "incompetence" , that's all it is- the clerk should be publicly embarrassed by this action.
In Fairfax County, Va we have a similar system, except it allows for future copy needs - we can deposit as much as we want in the account, and draw off of it for all the various ways we need to get copies- either just a plain copy in the court house or a certified copy we can order from off the web site of the county- it can all be done easily and directly from the copy account. seems we don't have that "dumbing factor" of your clerk- sad situation to be in- especially when you have to explain it all to your client too.
