Well, you are entitled to your opinion and it's a matter of interpretation, I suppose, but the funny part is that I honestly don't think he means what he says. He's a candidate trying to come across as a tough military leader, but all along has been bragging about his opposition to the war. In fact, here's the text of a video of him that's been circulating on youtube, [along with some commentary from yours truly]:
It is truly frightening to think that this clown could be our next Commander-in-Chief.
...I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. [Who needs a strong military anyway?]
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. [Like the one that successfully shot down that disabled spy satellite a couple of months ago]. I will not weaponize space. [Even though China already has].
I will slow our development of future combat systems. [That should give our enemies plenty of time to catch up.]
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending. Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals. [Russia's our friend now...right?]
