Jonathan Laing had a nice article in last weeks issue of Barron's regarding the ratings downgrades by Moody's and S&P of various SIVs.

I will not bother to paraphrase here the issues and possible solutions he presented.  I would suggest it as interesting reading for everyone.  Some of the numbers are eye-popping.
