As most others have stated, the article provides insufficient information to answer that question.
With regard to southwest Pennsylvania, however, most of this "neck of the woods" was originally Cumberland county, formed in 1750. From there came Bedford, formed in 1771, and Westmoreland, which was formed in 1773. At least 4 full counties (and parts of seven others) were split from those original two, so a similar situation around here would most likely require a visit to several county courthouses (as well as the State Archives) to search back to the original patent.
