Gail,
I think your posting is quite nasty and insulting to the guys in Naltea who have worked their butts off to put this test together.
In most professions one has to have a college education and degree to get employment in any professional field.
What Naltea is attempting to do is exactly this. To set a standard in the title search/abstracting profession. This is one of the reasons why so many people have become abstractor's, because there are no set qualifications in our industry, and these "abstractors" are the ones driving the prices down, because they don't have a clue, are lazy and out to make a quick buck. I know abstractors who can't be bothered to search civil and superior court judgments because they would have to walk across the street from the county clerk's office to another building to do so.
I for one am fed up with the abstractors on SOT who blame the "Big Bad Vendor Management companies" for driving the prices down, I disagree with this completely. Its the idiot out there who "learned how to abstract in 1 day or 2 days" who is driving the prices down.
Its called not giving a rats butt, no pride, no integrity in the work product and wanting to do the least amount of work possible. THIS is what is killing our profession.
Regarding what is Naltea going to do about stopping companies from sending work overseas, I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee.
Do you have any idea of how much US industry has been being shipped over seas for years now? Textiles, car manufacturing, toy manufacturing, etc.., I could give you a huge list. Look at Detroit, its practically a ghost town. This is a problem which is effecting many many many industries, not just abstracting.
Next time you go shopping see how many products you can buy that say made in the USA, I think you will be shocked.
I understand that you are upset over what is happening, many of us are, however I think you need to apologize to those Naltea members for insulting them, they have worked very hard to put this test together and are at least trying to do something about the situation and I think we should be thankful that they care enough to have done so.
