As we can all see, everyone has an opinion about this certification exam and process. No one really knows the outcome of it and who, if anyone, will recognize it. Looking at the total membership of NALTEA, firms with multiple memberships etc, there really are just a few members. Numbers count, and that is what NALTEA truly needs to focus on in order to promote the agenda. Acquiring more independent abstractors and examiners, to promote our issues and standards is a necessity.
Without growing our numbers, there is little hope of ever achieving what the founding members were trying to do. We have a hand full of individuals, who are willing to help and try to promote NALTEA and what we represent. The certification exam is an excellent start, no doubt. However, the process of getting people to join NALTEA in order for them to sit for the exam is going to be an issue, now and in the future. It cannot possibly be on the same scale as the SAT, LSAT, GMAT, GRE, etc..where the exam will be distributed all across the country at multiple sites, I find it hard to believe that NALTEA has that kind of financial support at the moment. Although, with membership support it could very well be a reality. As we understand it, that is a goal, nationwide testing.
This is merely my observation, I have no first hand knowledge of what NALTEA is going to be able to do concerning the exam or the process of making it readily available. What I do know is that we all need to band together, as a cohesive unit and to promote ourselves as professionals within the mortgage/title industry. Only then will we be treated as professionals.
