Seems like odd advice... some of my best clients are the "one-owner title companies." They are the small agents that still possess old fashioned values and appreciate the quality of work we provide. And... its nice to be able to develop a relationship with a "person" and not some corporate robot with a turn-over rate higher than McDonald's.
The companies we stay away from are the BIG vendor management companies that want everything 10 minutes after they fax the order over and hound us non-stop until we have returned the same order three times. But the fun doesn't stop there. When it come time for payment, they aren't is such a rush anymore and they blatantly ignore our NET30 terms as stated on our invoice. Worse yet, they don't pay for copies, or additional work requested. They arbitrarily, and unilaterally decide that when and how much they are going to pay. NO THANNKS! When I get a "Vendor Engagement Package" faxed over, I know that its probably a company I want to avoid. THEY should be signing our AGREEMENTS - not the other way around.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
