I think you've hit it on the head...we live in a Domino's Pizza society.  Mass media marketing has taught us that we're entitled to have everything we want in "30 minutes or less or it's free."

So, go ahead, folks, buy your kids those pricey new PlayStations or Xbox 360's so they can vegetate in front of them while stuffing their faces with Big Macs, then sign them up for all those expensive after-school athletic programs so the little lard-asses can get some exercise!
