Isn't the small claim cost much less than $450 ?

Why don't you file it yourself?    Your costs and fees are
added to any judgment, so they may end up paying them
anyway, if you get a judgment and can collect.
That way you may be "ahead" of those who are
waiting (counting on promises, or waiting for someone
else to make a move).
As has been asked on here before, how many $$$$ did it
have to get to before you knew you had a problem.  A
signed agreement can't insure payment, so as has been
said before, WE are responsible to not let the amount
get out of hand......
I would wonder how many on here are not in the same
boat you are (which I am not).   I would hope it is not
most all people on here, or my faith in those who use
this site has been shaken.
