I'm not exactly sure how things are set-up in Michigan. In Ohio, we check the clerk of courts for liens on all of our searches, in addition to any liens that may be filed in the recorder's office. But, unlike those who have to use Property Insights, we don't have to rely on another private company to check for liens - we do it all ourselves. I think I prefer it that way.
I guess this thread just goes to show that things are very different from state to state and county to county.
