The National Association of Independent Land Title Agents (NAILTA) will hold its annual conference in Baltimore Maryland from Sunday, September 30, 2012 through Tuesday October 2, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor.
Several prominent speakers are scheduled to appear, including Dr. Ted Jones, Vice President and Chief Economist for Stewart Title; Benjamin Olson, Managing Attorney for the Mortgage Products Enforcement Division of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; Stephen A. Hester, Jr., Former Director of Title Insurance for the Texas Department of Insurance; Dick Reass, President of firm Rynoh Live; Lawrence Bell, Esq., Vice President and Underwriting Counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company, Parsippany, New Jersey; and Richard Gordon, Esq., Partner, Gordon and Wolf, Chtd., Towson, Maryland, an expert on RESPA litigation.
Breakout sessions include panel discussions with enforcement personnel from state departments of insurance and with independent title agents from around the United States, as well as a session covering escrow account fraud prevention. There will also be a session discussing the ramifications of the U.S. Supreme Court RESPA case Edwards v. First American, which is expected to be decided before the conference.
Conference are eligible for 3.0 to 6.0 Continuing Education or Continuing Legal Education credits, depending on approval in certain states. See the NAILTA website for details for your state.
