WFG Names O'Neill EVP of Institutional Services
press release

Williston Financial Group (“WFG”), the parent company of WFG Lender Services and WFG National Title Insurance Company, has appointed Donald O’Neill as Executive Vice President of Institutional Services. The Williston Financial Group family is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for lender, commercial and residential transactions, nationwide.

O’Neill will oversee the strategic growth and operations of Williston Financial Group’s centralized production divisions, including WFG Lender Services and   WFG’s Default Services group.  He comes to WFG with 30 years of experience in mortgage and real estate services, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Associate General Counsel for Altisource’s Premium Title.   Previously, he was President, Origination Practice Group and Chief Risk Officer for ISGN Solutions.  Before that, O’Neill was Group President and CEO for one of the industry’s largest title insurance underwriters, where he oversaw the operational performance and financial results of that company’s Real Estate Information Group.  O’Neill is licensed to practice law in Utah and Washington State and is a member of the United State Supreme Court Bar – Washington D.C.  He received his Juris Doctorate and MBA from Gonzaga University.

“Our clients increasingly seek centralized production options for their transactions, and we do not see this trend abating for quite some time,” said WFG President and CEO Patrick Stone.  “Don comes to WFG with a wide breadth of industry experience as well as an unflinching commitment to the customer.  We are confident his customer-oriented approach will quickly make him a valuable resource for our clients.”

I was contacted today with an inquiry whether I provide title searches or not.  I 'd be interested in knowing anyone's experience with this outfit - whether they pay, etc.  From the article, it appears they work to drive down vendor pay by using a reverse auction.  I'm more than willing to work but, like most sentient beings, I need to eat and put a roof over my head. Any reviews on this company?

 Thanks.

Never had problem with them paying. They either direct deposit or wire your account every 2 weeks.

They are an India based company (all their work is done in India, although they have a front office here in the US for appearances).  Their employees are horribly trained and uninformed about even the basics of title examination. They will repeatedly waste your time trying to get you to get things you have already sent them, because they simply do not understand what it is they are reading. God forbid you have a complicated title, they will not have a clue. I did work for about 2-3 months before I cut them off. I consider them a risk. Plus I don't like doing work for overseas companies that seem to be dumbing down the title industry, and driving prices down. You'll have to decide for yourself if you wish to work for out-sourcers. They do pay (direct-deposit), but they pay S-L-O-W-L-Y.

I've had a couple of local/regional title companies and a local law firm use them for a time, and they all came back to the local abstractors (sending work to us directly, instead of going through Altisource) after about 6-months, because of all the mistakes Altisource was making. I suspect a few years down the road there will be alot of "stuff" hitting the fan when the claims start rolling in from their mistakes. Title companies and law firms that continue to use these companies will just have to learn the hard way.....what seems cheap now, will cost them down the road.
