It can be frustrating, but know that for every abstractor that is not truthful, there are 2 title companies that would just as soon lie to you and steal from you as to look at you.
And how much flack would the abstractor be givin for requesting at minimum, a $4.00 fee for ONE copy. I catch flack over $0.50 from some of my customers.
Just something to ponder.
