I'm happy to see Robert sticks up for the abstractors on his site.
Some of my jurisdictions charge $3.00 per document, others $1.25 first page and .50 each additional page. It gets complicated so I keep it easy and charge a flat copy fee of $1.25 pp regardless of jurisdiction.
Making copies is an extra step that takes extra time and abstractors should charge more than they paid. I am advancing money for clients out of my pocket and am doing business to make a profit.
The cost of a current owner is the fee I charge for my years of education, training, and the expertise necessary to compile a current owner report.
It gives me great comfort to know Robert has our backs.
Have a blessed holiday season. Jeanie Lurtsema
