Thanks for the warning! She ("Jackie") just contacted me and I politely turned her away, giving her a rundown of what I was finding on line. I sent out my usual "Deadbeat client alert" to my abstractors and my Michigan competitors because Jackie will be desperate by now. One of my abstractors responded that she is still owed money from them from 2010!
Jackie responded to my rejection: "
I understand that
as you see im not trying to hide
but we have already fixed that problem there have been fraud on our account and everybody eccept afew people are still here we had to close the bank account down since then.
now we have being paying direct by money order or credit card .I responded that "Does that mean you'll be paying Pat XXXXX the money you owe her from 2010?" BTW, pretty sure this is an India based client -- that accent Jackie had was just WEIRD. It sounded like someone from Brooklyn was trying to pretend they were from Alabama and I guess that's what it sounds like when Hindi is the primary language and they try to add an American accent. I have three wonderful India based clients who are a joy to deal with (as long as we do email instead of phone!) :-) and pay their bills. Just like here in the U.S., a bad egg can ruin the reputation of many innocents.
