I agree with you but it seems like alot of abstractors are desperate for work or too nice and do not want to rock the boat for fear that they will not get future work from a company.  I only do work for companies that agree to pay within 30 days.  I will not take on a client if I see that they take 45-60 days to pay for a search. If I see that they start making excuses for paying within my time frame I cut them off.  I do not fall for any excuses.  If a company can't pay their abstractors within 30 days because they have to wait for THEIR clients to pay them or they are late with payments in general they have no business being in business.  You are just asking for trouble in these situations.  There are so many red flags when companies are not legit....right from the beginning....just follow your instincts.  If we all banned together to stop them things would be very different.  More power in numbers.
