At one time i would go ahead and submit the search with the up charge as waiting for approval would require another trip to a far flung county.  However, having said that, i have been burned by so many in the "new" title market, I always call for approval and STILL get burned sometimes.  Some clients say they only pay what is in the system regardless of a verbal approval.  Now I've gone to "in writing only" for fee increases.  So much for a trusting heart.
