Since we do foreclosures in San Mateo County, California, and we track them in other local Bay Area Counties, we can honestly say that the number of Trustee Sale Notices of record are increasing in over the past two weeks. While we're not sure if this will translate into actual foreclosure auctions given delays and cancellations and short sales, if it does, it signals an increase in foreclosure actions in our area.
I've been doing this for 11 years in our area, and while it may be a transitory trend for a few weeks, it's not a bet I'd take. Most economist predict that our state will not "bottom out" in the distressed properties for another year to 1.5 years, so this dovetails with reasonable expectations.
