I'm inclined to agree with you there, Skymutt.  Sooner or later, the market is going to rebound, and home values tend to appreciate over the long term.  Someone who is upside down in their mortgage right now may find themself in the black five to ten years from now if they continue to have the resources to meet their current obligations.
