How many excuses can the VMC's come up with to ask for fee reductions? First, when they were busy, they wanted "volume discounts." Then when things slowed down they wanted us to help them "remain competitive" (never mind that the "volume" they offered for the first discount went away). Now they need further price breaks to avoid sending our work to India. I wonder what will be next?
We should just let them all send all the work to India and have a firm policy of not doing any work for any Indian company, or anyone who sends work that direction. Let them see how long they can operate when they can't find anyone to do the searches that can't be done online.
Sometimes, I wish we were all financially secure enough to go on strike for a few months. I wonder where the industry would be if NOBODY completed any searches for a while, just to show them how important abstractors are to the process. Nobody would be able to refinance, buy a home, foreclose, etc. (with the exception of those that can be done online and in India), unless they want to learn to do their own searching.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
