You can hardly claim that the sale was "collusive or defective," when the buyer or his attorney asked different people on several different occasions if the bid price was correct. What more can you ask for??
Maybe I'd feel differently if the buyer had recognized that it had to be a mistake, but said nothing. I don't think I'd be as inclined to reward that behavior. However, when the buyer points out the issue several times and everyone confirms that it is not a mistake - he is entitled to the property.
