I think you may be referring to some threads I may have written. I have been very successful in getting paid by arguing that the work product (summarization of information contained in land records) belongs to me until paid in full. Either pay me or return my property to me unused. I have only not been paid once...and that was when the client went bankrupt, and there were no assets left to pay the abstractors.
