Hassle?  Bothered?

I don't have any problem "Which credit card do you want to use?" is what I say on the first order

and on the rest, " i'll put it on the same card we used before ok?"

Let me break down the physical reality

A person asks you to do something (title search) that takes x # of hours

In return you are asking him/her to reply to your pay pal invoice or

or Ask for the Credit Card #(if you have your own merchant account)

which takes 1 minute or less to speak a credit card # and exp date

It is no hassle or Bother, only in you mind

You the one who said

"and I still believe that getting paid is probably very near the top of abstractors' lists of problems

Why should you have to wait for your money?  Why?

because it's custom?

Because your afraid they will say "its a hassle and you'll lose business

USE THE CREDIT CARD ON FILE

I AM TRYING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO ELIMINATE  PROBLEM, I am trying to Help

Extending credit is a banking function, not a Abstractor's function

Look around Who gives Credit ?

, from Major airlines to your local restaurant

to Walmart

try telling them it's a hassle.

It would be wonderful to know who is good or bad

It's called runing a Credit check , which for these small dollar orders is cost prohibitive.
