Constance: I have always taken the precaution of shooting a copy of the index , then sending an e-mail to the county advising of the error, they will write back letting you know  it has been fixed-then go back and shoot the index again- keeping both with the file, just in case. I try my best to report any errors I find to the cpan help site- they do a good job of fixing things, and as an additional precaution, shot a copy of the "availability" page with the file also.
